Toasting Barrels with Independent Stave

Our proprietary barrels are a key component of what makes Buzzard’s Roost Rye Sippin’ Whiskeys so unique. We work hand-in-hand with our partners at Independent Stave to craft these barrels at every touchpoint including the toasting process. Toasting a barrel both mellows the tannins in the wood, as well as changes the flavors the barrel might impart from raw wood. The heavier the toast, often the stronger the barrel’s flavor.
